Accelerate digital health adoption with Rhapsody Integration Engine 7.3

As digital health adoption accelerates, you’re introducing more and more data sources into your organization’s ecosystem. The wide variety of standard and non-standard terms in use creates redundancies and adds complexity to data aggregation, making it hard to use the information effectively. As a result, it’s necessary to cross-map codes to normalize them into the right format for the right use. For example, ensuring a term is in the USCD-I standard for use in FHIR.

If this cross-mapping is done manually in multiple places, it can quickly become out-of-sync with the latest version of the required standard as new updates are taken to the source terminologies. It creates duplicate maintenance and limits the robustness of cross-mapping that is possible. The terminologies that need to be cross-mapped are not one-to-one. They are part of complex hierarchies that are used for different purposes. To properly and sustainably cross-map and normalize codes, your organization needs a clinical terminology management solution.

Rhapsody Integration Engine 7.3 offers an efficient and simplified approach to achieving a high-quality and useful data foundation, ultimately accelerating digital health adoption. With the introduction of the Rhapsody Semantic Cross-Map Communication Point, instead of manually maintaining cross-mappings within the engine, users will benefit from native and seamless integration with Rhapsody Semantic.  This new feature streamlines the process of mapping healthcare data codes by automating the translation of proprietary or custom codes to standardized ones.

Additionally, this release of the Semantic Cross-Map Direct Lookup Communication Point provides the following value:

  1. Ease of Use: Integrating Rhapsody Semantic is more straightforward and accessible, reducing the need for complex in-route configurations.
  2. Automated Code Mapping: The communication point is designed to process HL7 messages by extracting and converting source codes into standardized codes efficiently. Rhapsody Semantic offers cross-mappings out-of-the-box, ready for your use. Or you can create and layer in your own as required for custom and proprietary code sets.
  3. Error Management: This release provides flexibility to handle unmapped codes either by routing them to an Error Queue or by documenting them as errors, allowing for subsequent processing and correction.
  4. Adaptable Mapping Configurations: The system has capacity to manage repeating fields or segments, like multiple OBX segments in HL7 messages, making it adaptable to your varying healthcare data scenarios and needs.

Take advantage of the Rhapsody Integration Engine 7.3 release to enhance your technology foundation and accelerate digital health innovation. Existing customers can learn more about the Rhapsody Semantic Communication Point and the other enhancements included in the 7.3 release by visiting the Community or reaching out to your Account Executive.
