CCD-Continuity of Care Document

The Continuity of Care Document (CCD) is used to share summary information about the patient within the broader context of the personal health record.

HL7 Cardinality

Cardinality defines how many times an element must/may appear in a HL7 message. Represented as minimum and maximum instance counts, e.g., 0-to-n or 1-to-1.

HL7 Acknowledgement (ACK)

HL7 ACKs (including original mode acknowledgements and enhanced mode acknowledgements) and non-HL7 ACKs (also known as static string acknowledgements).

HL7 ADT–Admit Discharge Transfer

HL7 ADT messages carry patient demographic information and provide data about trigger events (such as patient admit, discharge, transfer, registration, etc.).

HL7 CDA

CDA is an XML-based standard used for clinical document exchange developed by Health Level Seven, and is based on the HL7 Reference Information Model (RIM).

HL7 DFT Message

The HL7 DFT message describes a financial transaction that is sent to a billing system and is used for patient accounting purposes

HL7 Encoding Characters

Encoding characters are used to construct an HL7 message, defining how data is separated in an HL7 message, and are defined dynamically in the MSH segment.
