In response to the call for a solution to support these initiatives, integration engines such as the Rhapsody interoperability platform have been created. In order to determine the impact of this technology, we partnered with HIMSS Analytics to study its effects, and published the white paper, ‘Leveraging Integration Engines for Strategic Data Sharing under Value-Based Care’. Our goal was to assess the outcomes of leveraging integration engines for strategic data sharing on a provider organization’s value-based care practices.
We found that through the use of integration engines, organizations were able to improve workflows and provide more effective care by facilitating end-to-end sharing of health information. As one state public health department’s IT manager said about using Rhapsody, “It’s a huge advantage to be able to give providers and hospitals the ability to do data exchange in multiple formats.”
When asked whether utilizing integration engines was critical for supporting key business projects, nearly 89% of respondents said that they believed integration engines played a critical role in facilitating the end-to-end process of sharing health information.
Additionally, more than 74% of respondents said that interface engines granted their organizations the ability to add health IT projects that would have otherwise been too costly. Overall, technologies like Rhapsody are paving the way to smoother, more efficient care and, ultimately, complete interoperability in healthcare.
