Women in #HealthIT: Good for our industry

Article in Health Management Technology by Sarah Muckler, director of worldwide health marketing at Microsoft:

Part of my personal drive to encourage more women to go into STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) careers is due to the incredible opportunity. And along the way, they’ll likely discover just how fun and rewarding this industry can be. My career in health IT has led to so many amazing experiences and growth. I never would have found out that I love HL7 and designing a radiology information system to allow information to flow in order to help define patient workflow. Selling technology isn’t always easy, and there’s a lot to learn and demonstrate. I have the most amazing memories of working with incredibly smart, highly competent, fun, and very funny women and men that have given me opportunities that I’d never have known.”

We couldn’t agree with Sarah Muckler more!

The industry is better when it includes as many voices and perspectives as possible. While the majority of health IT professionals are undoubtedly male, we are seeing many excellent new female graduates coming out of health technology programs, such as the Health Informatics and Health IT Program at University of Texas at Austin. The UT Austin program has been an invaluable pipeline of health IT talent for us – both male and female – that is reflective of the quality of education provided at the university.

Women in #HealthIT are a vital part of the Corepoint Health organization – including the senior management team and every other department in our organization.

We wouldn’t be where we are today without a balanced staff to properly improve our product and serve our great customers!
