CMS eases telemedicine restrictions in new rural health strategy

Monitor interfaces

Originally reported in Modern Healthcare.

On May 8, the CMS released a rural health strategy document that promises to reduce regulations to telehealth and improve relations to rural providers.

Initial responses from rural groups are positive:

The strategy’s chief initiative is formally analyzing what impact any future rulemakings will have on rural providers and communities. That practice doesn’t happen consistently now, said the CEO of the National Rural Health Association Alan Morgan.

“We are optimistic that this effort at ‘rural proofing’ will provide a better regulatory environment for rural providers,” he said.

Hospitals were thrilled that the strategy recognizes providers increasingly rely on telehealth for hard-to-reach patients.

Here at Corepoint Health, we understand many of the technology challenges that remote healthcare providers face every day. Many users of Corepoint Integration Engine cite the ease of use of the product as their favorite feature. This allows analysts and even non-IT staff to learn how to build interfaces between different applications.
