One to many: How an integrated platform helps distribute data

A common data workflow involves the EHR, which is typically the source of truth for all patient demographics, sending data into an integration engine. That data is then parsed and distributed to many different locations or applications. This common scenario would not be possible without using the centralized, platform approach offered by Corepoint Integration Engine.

Once a caregiver enters a patient into the EHR, the integration team can make that patient known throughout the organization in near real time. The patient can be known to the laboratory, dietary, and radiology systems – and whoever else – at the same time.

This workflow provides a significantly better experience for the patient.

Let me illustrate with a common scenario:

During a recent doctor visits, I spent 20 minutes providing my name, insurance, and other needed info to the clerk. I then was told to walk 30 feet down the hall to the Lab for a routine blood test. After checking in they asked for my driver’s license and insurance card. I told them that I just provided all that information in the doctor’s office. The nurse said the doctor’s office was on a different system, and I had to provide that info all over again for their Lab system.

Wouldn’t it be nice if, in the time it takes me to walk down the hall, they transmitted a message to the Lab so their system had my information?

With an integration engine platform, providers can immediately distribute those messages to connected systems. It’s extremely common to have an incoming ADT feed from the EHR split 40, 60, even 100 ways. One ADT message comes in, 100 ADT messages go out to where the data is needed.

Some of those 100 ADT messages may need customization or tweaking to meet desired workflow goals. This is where Corepoint Integration Engine excels. It takes less than 10 clicks in our engine to set up an interface to distribute messages to five different downstream systems.
