How Philadelphia Department of Public Health uses Rhapsody Integration Engine

Configuration and Environment

Rhapsody Integration Engine

Electronic Lab Reporting (ELR)

Receipt, translation and routing of ELR data with input from 1 TCP/IP connection (real-time) and monitored folder file transfers (daily/weekly files).

Receive HL7 from commercial labs (Quest and Labcorp)

as well as several hospital based LIS, and the City’s Public Health Lab; processing a couple hundred messages per day.

Processed labs are routed to 3 separate database applications.

Future Work

Performing a lot of testing and configuration for other routes.

As with many of the Public Health departments PHI is dependent on SAIC to finish configuring and testing their application with Rhapsody version 3.X so they can upgrade.

In the near future we will be using Rhapsody to support the processing of CDC message-mapping guides (MMG).
