Course information

This new course introduces engine users to Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and how to build real-world FHIR workflows using Corepoint. You’ll start with the fundamentals of FHIR and RESTful web services, then apply those concepts to design, implement, and extend integrations that bridge traditional HL7 messaging with modern interoperability standards. Through guided, hands-on scenarios, you’ll learn how to create, update, and query FHIR resources while integrating with existing healthcare systems.

What you’ll learn:

  • Fundamentals of REST web services and how they support FHIR APIs
  • Core concepts of FHIR, including resources, RESTful interactions, and common use cases
  • How to convert HL7 messages into FHIR resources (e.g., Patient and Visit)
  • Techniques for creating and updating FHIR resources using POST and PUT
  • How to query FHIR servers using identifiers like MRN
  • Approaches for integrating FHIR data back into HL7 workflows
  • Best practices for building scalable, real-world interoperability solutions in Corepoint
